Anthropic Invests $100M – and Banking Goes Agentic

Two developments over the past fortnight deserve particular attention: Anthropic has set the course for enterprise AI with the Claude Partner Network (CPN) and a $100 million investment – anchored by Accenture, Deloitte, Cognizant and Infosys. At the same time, McKinsey's new study "The Paradigm Shift" reveals that banks tie up between 50 and 60 per cent of their full-time equivalents (FTEs) in operations – precisely where agentic AI offers the greatest leverage.

The connection between these two developments is what makes this truly compelling: while Anthropic positions the consultancies as implementation partners, McKinsey provides the evidence that banks can significantly reduce their operating costs through agentic AI. Any financial institution still stuck in "pilot purgatory" risks being left behind. The question is no longer whether, but how quickly.

On top of that: Claude Opus 4.6 with a one-million-token context window has arrived – and with Claude Dispatch, AI tasks can now be steered from a smartphone. The infrastructure for autonomous AI workflows in banking is becoming real.

Anthropic News: Claude Opus 4.6 and the Claude Partner Network

Anthropic has released Claude Opus 4.6 with a one-million-token context window – the most powerful model in the Claude family. In parallel, the Claude Partner Network (CPN) launches with $100 million in investment and Accenture, Deloitte, Cognizant and Infosys as anchor partners. For the financial industry, this means: enterprise-grade AI implementations now have a professional ecosystem with certifications, technical support and co-marketing.

Feature of the Week: Claude Dispatch – Steer AI Tasks from Your Smartphone

Since 17 March, Max subscribers can use Claude Dispatch to initiate, monitor and control complex AI tasks on their desktop from anywhere. A "phone-to-desktop" workflow that makes agentic AI mobile. Pro users will follow within the next few days. For bankers who want to kick off analyses between meetings: a decisive advantage.

Market Trend: McKinsey – Agentic AI as a "Paradigm Shift" in Banking

McKinsey's latest analysis shows that 50–60 per cent of FTEs in a typical bank are tied to operations – precisely where agentic AI offers the greatest leverage. Early implementations demonstrate dramatic efficiency gains: KYC (Know Your Customer) workflows with over 98 per cent resolution rates, AML (Anti-Money Laundering) investigations 50 per cent faster, and credit processes with 20–60 per cent productivity improvements. The message: those who remain stuck in "pilot purgatory" will lose out.

DORA After Three Months: Register of Information Remains the Biggest Challenge

Three months after entering into force, the picture is becoming clear: 46 per cent of financial institutions cite the Register of Information (RoI) as their greatest compliance challenge. The ESAs (European Supervisory Authorities) have published the list of critical ICT (Information and Communication Technology) third-party providers and commenced direct oversight. According to Deloitte, compliance costs run between EUR 2–5 million per institution, with an average of 5–7 FTEs deployed. Smaller firms in particular struggle with the standardised contracts of major cloud providers – a question of negotiating power.

FiDA Trilogue Paused – Agreement Expected at Earliest Under Cypriot Council Presidency

The trilogue negotiations on the Financial Data Access Regulation (FiDA) have stalled significantly since the start of 2026. An institutional agreement is expected during the Cypriot EU Council Presidency (January–June 2026). For institutions, this means: planning uncertainty persists, but the direction is clear – open finance is coming. Those who begin preparing API (Application Programming Interface) strategies and data access architectures now will gain a head start.
